Russian-speaking and Arabic-speaking minorities

School of Solidarity: Theory and Practice of the Struggle for Minority Rights

On 3 October 2020 at 18.00, an introductory online conference (Zoom) will discuss the main goals and tasks of solidarity and ways to put them into practice.

The basis for cooperation

  • the existence of Russian-speaking, Arabic-speaking and other minorities as actors in the country’s political and socioeconomic development;
  • the shared socioeconomic and political interests of the Russian-speaking and Arabic-speaking minorities;
  • the existence of political forces seeking to use legislation to restrict minorities’ constitutional rights and deprive them of opportunities to pursue their political and socioeconomic interests;
  • the need to ensure human development for all minorities in Israel, the Mossawa Center and the Dor Moriah NGO agreed to cooperate in defending minority rights and assisting in the advancement of their interests at the local and national levels.

The first stage of this programme was organising and holding the ‘School of Solidarity: Theory and Practice of the Struggle for Minority Rights’.

Activists from the Dor Moriah NGO, the Mossawa advocacy centre and the Association of Russian-speaking Arabs — graduates of universities in the USSR and CIS — will take part.
